The Società Sportiva Lazio was founded on 9 January 1900 and has nearly always played in the Italian Premier League. Nowadays, it is the second most important football team in Rome. The SS Lazio plays its match at home in the same stadium as AS Roma, the Stadio Olimpico, whereas the team trainings take place in Formello, in the north of Rome. The SS Lazio is a sports society which include basketball, athletics, canoe and cycling.

CLUB BADGE AND KIT

The symbol of the SS Lazio football team is the imperial eagle, which used to represent God Zeus in Roman legions. In the club badge the eagle surmounts a white and pale blue striped shield. The main kit is white and pale blue, with white shorts and socks, after Olympic Greece style. The second and third kits, instead, are respectively black and yellow.

AWARDS

In its history, the SS Lazio has won 2 Premier Leagues, 5 Coppe Italia, 3 Supercoppe Italiane, 1 Coppa delle coppe, 1 UEFA League and 1 coppa delle Alpi. It placed second in the Premier League for 3 times and third for 5 times. Its first Coppa Italia dates back to 1958, whereas the first Premier League to 1974. It won its last Premier League in 2000. In the 2009 World Club Rankings the SS Lazio holds the 20th position.

RIVALS

Particularly harsh is the rivalry with AS Roma supporters, but also with those of the Napoli, the Livorno and the Atalanta. Roma - Lazio match in Premier League is called “Derby della Capitale” (Derby of the Capital).
