Rome has been a fundamental centre for trade ever since ancient times. Nowadays, it still plays a fundamental role in this direction: it is still full of shops, banks and markets. Let’s have a look at their working CLOTHES AND SHOESThese shops are generally open Mon-Fri from 9/9.30 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm (some from 5 pm) to 8 pm approximately. On Saturdays they are usually open from 10 am to 8 pm. Nonetheless, in the city centre quite a few shops stay open even until 10 pm during week days and on Sundays till 8 pm. A lot of stores do not have any notice at the entrance stating until what time they will be open. Moreover, some are close on Mondays morning. SUPERMARKETSSupermarkets in Rome are open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, whereas on Mondays they commonly open at 1 pm, with the exception of the city centre, where any kind of shop is usually open for longer, even on Sundays. BANKSBanks in Rome are open Mon-Fri from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 4 pm, with some possible changes as to the afternoon hours. ATM machines, instead, function all day long. MARKETSEven though the high style (and quite expensive) Via del Corso is a must for shopaholics, our advice is to take a look at the flea markets which take place in different boroughs of Rome every week. If you want to find the best bargains, you’d better go in early morning. And be careful not to be taken in: try to negotiate the price. Here are the opening hours of Rome’s most important flea markets:
