Via Margutta is a nice and discreet street that runs parallel to via del Babuino, the street that connects Piazza di Spagna with Piazzale Flaminio. It is far less crowded and noisy than its surrounding areas. It is located on Pincio hill’s slopes and has been one of the most exclusive streets in Rome for about 60 years, where lots of boutiques, chic restaurants and artists’ studios are.
The atmosphere in via Margutta is quiet and bucolic, whit houses covered with creepers and a few vineyards. Along this street you can see Palazzo Patrizi Nari, the Fontana delle Arti (Fountain of the Arts), built in 1927, and the Collegio Torlonia. Artists’ and portrait painter’s studios have been here since the Medieval period, and lately proliferated when this street’s fame grew further and further. Even Federico Fellini and his wife have lived here for some time.
