la Roma esoterica

If you want to spend a weird and peculiar day in Rome, you can discover its esoteric side, with its “magic” places, ghost stories and alchemists’ tales. There are many places you can visit to retrace historical fascinating personalities like Cagliostro or Giordano Bruno, who was burnt at the stake in Campo de' Fiori.

In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II there’s the so called Alchemy Gate, once part of marquis Massimiliano Palombara villa, completely decorated with enigmatic magic symbols. Another place you can’t miss is the cemetery of the Capuchins in the Church of Immacolata Concezione in via Veneto, entirely decorated with Capuchins’ bones, as well as the Gothic church of Sacro Cuore del Suffragio, with its Souls from Purgatory Museum, full of atypical relics. In the city there are also some mithraea, where God Mithras used to be worshipped.
