The Teatro dell’Opera in Rome is also known as Teatro Costanzi and is a prestigious big theatre for ballet and opera. It can let more than 1600 people in and has a perfect acoustics, as good as in the best theatres of the world.
It was inaugurated in 1880 with the representation of the “Semiramide” by Gioacchino Rossini. The suggestive dome overarching the building was painted by Andrea Brugnoli. The theatre has an in-house dancing school and a corps de ballet which performs here during the whole theatre season.
