Sitar: the name of India’s most famous string instrument. That’s how this beautiful restaurant in via Cavour (nearby the Fori Romani) is called. The place is elegant, refined though traditional and presents a room whose shape resembles the one of a lute soundbox.

During summer you can eat outdoor, whereas during winter you eat in the above mentioned room and in other areas. The menu foresees different types of Indian and home-made bread and includes curry chicken, samosa (vegetable rolls), tikka, kebab, mixed vegetables, sitar chili chicken and many other chicken specialties. We suggest you also try chicken with butter or with onions, basmati rice, lentils soup or some tasty puri, Indian fried bread.

It offers many different types of Indian wine and beer that you can match with specific dishes on the staff advice. Upon asking the bill you’ll be given free digestive spices. It also foresees set menus. Nearby the restaurant there’s the beautiful Church of San Pietro in Vincoli with Michelangelo’s Moses, one of his most well known sculptures.
