Mr.Chow is one of the most peculiar Chinese restaurants in Rome, and you realize it as soon as you enter it. The entrance is sober, unpretentious and, therefore, very different from many other restaurants that show off kitsch decorations and tacky furniture. And that’s not all. The indoor atmosphere is uncommon, vaguely Baroque and luxury styled. Its only circular room presents sumptuous interior, with a classic music background and walls decorated with curtains; moreover, waitresses are dressed up after a classic style.
One good point is that you don’t have to stand strong and nauseating smells that fill most Chinese restaurants in the city. As to its cuisine, there’s nothing to reproach: the menu is not very broad, but the ingredients are accurately selected. It serves Taiwan and Beijing specialties.
So, what should you taste at Mr Chow restaurant? First of all steamed ravioli, then egg rolls, chicken with lemon and honey, chicken with mushrooms and bamboo, Cantonese or curry rice, rice spaghetti with lobster and pekinese duck. Also, you really have to try fried ice-cream and special dishes listed on the menu. The restaurant is run by Thai people. You’d better phone and reserve your seats in advance so as to avoid queues, since this place is usually pretty busy.
