The beautiful church of Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza is set in the Palazzo della Sapienza yard, once the seat of the University of Rome. Erected between 1642 and 1660 by Borromini, S.Ivo alla Sapienza is an elegant basilica with a unique baroque style.
Among the most remarkable aspects of this basilica we can list the dome with a corkscrew lantern, and the interior and the entire structure that show symbolic use of geometry, with triangles, stars and circles and both concave and convex undulations.
Inside the building there is the well known painting Sant’Ivo (Saint Yve) by Pietro da Cortona.
The church is located close to piazzetta S.Eustachio, in the borough of the same name, not far from Piazza Navona.
