Luiss Guido Carli is perhaps the most prestigious private university in Rome. When it was set up in 1974 its name was Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali, that was changed in 1994 into Guido Carli, its former president up to 1993. The current president, elected in 2004, is Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
